Here are some maps showing the upstream portion of Contrary Creek where many mines were once productive. You can see the 522/208 bridge in the upper right hand portion of the first map. The second map shows, in the light blue box, the approximate leased area of 5,200 feet of creek. It also shows some of the surrounding roads.

Here are some additional maps, a nice satellite shot of the portion of Contrary Creek that is included in the lease. The red lines show the approximate east and west boundaries. Also, a Google Driving Directions map.

For driving directions, use the town of Mineral Virginia for your destination.
If you're heading south down Rt 522 from Orange or Culpeper, Rt 522 intersects with Rt 20 (from Orange or Wilderness). Head south on 522. From that intersection of 522 and 20, you're exactly 15 miles from Contrary Creek. You'll know you're close to the creek when you pass Dickinson's store on the left side of the road and a marina yard on the right. Down about a half mile from the marina lot, you'll see Contary Creek. After crossing the creek bridge, you'll see the parking area on the right.
If you're heading north up from Mineral, Contrary Creek is only about 5 miles outside the town. You'll see the parking area on the left side of the road right before crossing the creek bridge.
Do not park on the shoulder of the highway. When parking in the dirt parking area, try not to box anyone in. Also, park as close to the edge of the parking area as possible so folks parked behind you (closer to the creek) can get their vehicles out.
There are two (steep) trails that go from the parking area down to the creek. Please watch your step as these trails can be very slippery when damp or muddy. Once on the creek, walk under the bridge and continue downstream for 150 feet. You will see the property signs. This is where the property lease begins.
